You all must be wondering what urged me to write a blog. Now I will demonstrate the strength of Colayer and colayer powered web.colayer.com to transform any website into a web 2.0 website with the example - colayer on blogspot.
Last month I watched video about Google Wave. Google Wave is a project announced by Google at the Google I/O conference on May 28, 2009.It is a web application and computing platform designed to bring together e-mail, instant messaging, wiki, and social networking, with a strong collaborative focus, mixed with spellchecker and translator extensions, which are able to work in concert, in real-time. Developed by Lars and Jens Rasmussen of Google Maps fame it is planned to be released later in 2009. After watching the video I realized that this is what my company Colayer has been doing since a decade. Markus Hegi (CEO and founder of Colayer came up with this radical thought about communication almost a decade ago)
Google wave is still only 10% what Colayer was 5 years ago so in terms of communication and collaboration Colayer is way ahead of Google Wave. For comparison between Google Wave and Colayer please refer Colayer vs Google Wave: Interview with Markus Hegi , blog by Reto Hartinger interviewing Markus Hegi – CEO and founder of Colayer or Colayer and Google Wave - The beginning of web 3.0? by Shadab Lari.
Okay I don’t want to go gaga about Colayer but I will show you the strength of Colayer and that too on a Google owned site. I will integrate colayer on blogspot.com. For this I will be using Colayer powered web.colayer.com , the sites basic purpose is to allow users to use Colayer platform and to add web 2.0 features to their sites where you can manage the html yourself. Create your own login and experience the radical change in communication and collaboration.
To get comfortable with colayer and how to use colayer please refer this blog What Colayer is? posted by my friend Sujit.
The very main aspect missing in today’s communication is Contextualization. For example,
• I write a blog. Now someone ‘a’ comments on my blog, then some other person ‘b’ comments on the blog, now person ’c’ wants to comment but he wants to reply to person ‘a’ then what he/she usually does he writes ‘@a’ or ’#a’ and then they write their comment. This is totally out of context and quite annoying. Now if they are using colayer ‘c’ can achieve contextual communication by directly replying to ‘a’. How? ‘c’ will simply click on a’s comment, take a standard Say form and reply or express himself with other expressions.
• Another example could be twitter. Twitter has become so popular. The idea is very simple , write in 140 characters what you are doing currently. Well so far so good but what happens when one wants to comment/reply to other user, again @user and with twitter or blogging the problem is that if the comments increase considerably then it is really difficult to find the corresponding comments to users.
Well I earlier said that I will be demonstrating the colayer strength and that too on blogspot. So here I am. Below this blog you will see 'Colayer on blogspot' and below it you will see 'Comments or Discussions using Colayer.'
1. Click on it, you will get a green bar – ‘shuttle‘ (Shuttle is Dynamic contextualized menu which presents user with options to collaborate and communicate with others). Now start writing and hit enter to submit a short message or click on Say to open a form and submit it with your comments.
2. Similarly do a mouse over on ‘+’ you will get whole lots of options to express yourself.
3. Now when you have submitted something, click on it and again you will get shuttle. Again open a form and submit it to comment. This way we achieve contextualized communication. Similarly other users can comment to your comment.
4. For your convenience I have created a comment below. Click on it and start commenting.
This is just one of the feature of Colayer and for me by far one of the most important to transform static websites into web 2.0 websites. Many fascinating and awesome functionalities of Colayer include online presentations, uploading files, online meetings, sending email, sms or creating a video and that too within context. Did I leave you asking for more? Well if you want to know more then visit colayer.com and experience all this on Colayer’s Virtual reception, another fantastic functionality of colayer to provide online reception to users. Just put your questions about Colayer and someone from Colayer will assist you.
Till my next blog, cya friends.
